Allen Tupper True, born May 30, 1881 in Colorado Springs, CO and died November 1, 1955 in Denver CO, is best known as a muralist and easel painter (and early in his career as an illustrator) specializing in Western and Native American themes.

He studied at Denver University, Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC and from 1902-1908 at the prestigious Howard Pyle School in Wilmington, DE and Chadd's Ford, PA.  During this time True provided illustrations for magazines Saturday Evening Post, Outing, Collier's Weekly, Scribners Magazine and Art and Progress, to name a few; and books such as Clarence E.
