Francis Michael Celentano (Born 1928) is active/lives in Washington.  Francis Celentano is known for Optical non objective, stripes.

Born in New York City, he received an MA from New York University Institute of Fine Arts and then studied in Italy on a Fulbright Scholarship. He has done murals and other public art including kinetic and optical art in the Seattle, Washington area, and from 1966 was professor of art at the University of Washington.

Description:  Celentano took four years to develop his color system seen in "Alpha Reverse in Black and White." Dividing his canvas into stripes, Celentano blurs his color from yellow to orange to cherry red to purple. The shifting color provides the impression of constant motion.
