John Henri Moser (1876 - 1951) was active/lived in Utah, Idaho / Switzerland. John Moser is known for Modernist landscape, portrait and history painting.
"Artists of Utah" by Robert Olpin, William Seifrit and Vern Swanson.
Originally from Wabern, Switzerland, John and Elizabeth Moser and their son, John Henri, joined the LDS Church in the 1880's in Bern, Switzerland, then immigrated to Utah in 1881. Settling in Payson, Utah, the Mosers later moved to Logan where young Henri worked at farming. The youth developed an early interest in the visual arts and eventually found work in a print shop in Enterprise during his teens. Then in 1898, he returned to Logan to tell his parents that he'd decided to attend college and was going up to the Gilt-Edge mine in Montana to earn enough money to begin his studies. His goal was the School of Engineering at Utah State, and within a couple of years he made this initial step in what was to be a unique career. Studying engineering at USAC, (Utah State Agricultural College), Moser excelled in drawing and Professor Stoddard of that discipline persuaded his student to pursue his true vocation in the ...
