Roger Francois Thepot (1925 – 2003)

A prominent avant garde Canadian and French painter, draftsman and sculptor, Roger-Francois Thepot was born in Landeleau, France, moved to Paris in 1947, and came to Canada in 1964. He settled in Toronto, Ontario in 1965 where he taught at the Ontario College of Art*. His works were featured in exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the Paris Museum of Modern Art (France). He exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts*, the Ontario Society of Artists*, and with the Salon des Realites Nouvelles*. His paintings, drawings and prints are in the collections of many major museums including the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa) and the National Museum of Modern Art/Pompidou Centre (Paris, France).
