Niels Pedersen Mols (1859 - 1921)

Predominantly a painter of rural genre, farm workers and animals, Mols was born on March 27, 1859 in Grumstrup, Denmark.  He studied at the
Royal Danish Academy of the Fine Arts from 1880 to 1884.  First acclaim came with the painting titled Roeoptagning exhibited 1886 at the Statens Museum of Art.

His painting, Rainy Weather, was exhibited at the World's Columbian Art Exhibition in 1893.  It is loosely painted in an impressionist style with rich earth tones.  The great sense of light creates a feeling of warmth in this humble depiction of rural Danish farm life. His art was also displayed in The International Art  Exposition in Venice, Italy in 1895, 1897 and 1901.
              
Mols died in Copenhagen on October 25, 1921.
