The German painter Bruno Krauskopf belonged to the most prolific representatives of the young generation of painters in Berlin at the beginning of the 20th century.  From 1910 to 1915, he studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin in the class of Emil Doepler.  In 1912, Bruno Krauskopf was elected a member of the Berliner Secession, becoming one of its pillars together with Franz Heckendorf and Wilhelm Kohlhoff.  Krauskopf and Kohlhoff shared the same studio for several years, and they also held a number of joint exhibitions.  Next to Max Pechstein, Georg Tappert and Erich Mendelssohn, Krauskopf is a co-founder of the 'Novembergruppe', a group of expressionist painters and architects.

When his art was classified as 'degenerated' by the National Socialists regime, he decided to immigrate to Norway, where he was introduced by Edvard Munch and Per Krogh to the local artist circles.  In 1950, when Bruno   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1358 characters.]  Artist bio
