Wolfgang Paalen (1905 - 1959) was active/lived in California / Mexico, Austria.  Wolfgang Paalen is known for Non objective and surreal imagery-painting.

Wolfgang Paalen was born in Baden near Vienna, Austria in 1905.  At 16 Paalen studied painting in Berlin with Leo von Koenig, and later continued in Paris with Fernnd Léger.  A modernist, his work embraces Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism.  He committed suicide in Taxco, Mexico in 1959.
