George Phipps

George Gardner Phipps (Born 1838) was active/lived in Massachusetts.  George Phipps is known for Marine, watercolor landscape, religion.

The following, submitted June 2004, is from Licia Babb who became interested in
George Garner Phipps through a friend's painting, a wedding gift, of a steam ship on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. "It was a wedding present to her parents and my friend is 82 years old so the painting is pretty old. It's a long painting over 2 ft. long and about 1 foot high."

Sources are several museums in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts, home town of the artist.

His house at 1193 Walnut is no longer there. I believe he was the minister at the Congregational Church in Newton Highlands and am awaiting a response from the church.

His parents were William Phipps and Mary Partridge, Reverend George Gardner Phipps was born December 11, 1838 in Franklin, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. He died sometime after 1925 in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts. His wife was Kathleen Maria Carruth, whome he married on September 12, 1865 at Philipston in, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
