Heinrich Plühr (1859-1953), painter and lithographer in Hanover, photographer in Hamburg, pioneer of nude photography, member of the Weimar painting school and art professor in Weimar.

Heinrich Plühr is considered one of the most important portrait and landscape painters of the Weimar School and a pioneer of modern nude photography. He studied at the Grand Ducal Art School in Weimar with Woldemar Friedrich and Max Thedy, and later held the chair for painting in Weimar.

In his landscapes, reminiscent of Arnold Böcklin, he often depicts Arcadian idylls, whose inhabitants lead a happy life connected to nature.
