William Krieghoff

William George Krieghoff (1875 - 1930) was active/lived in Pennsylvania, New York.  William Krieghoff is known for Illustration-figure, genre.

The following was compiled and submitted by Keith Emmons:Born August 31, 1875 in Philadelphia, PA.

Studied under William Chase of New York and several other artists. During his career he painted portraits of Chief Justice Taft, Charles Lindbergh, Walt Whitman, Eva Le Gallienne and many other notables.

Krieghoff did landscapes, pen and ink sketches and pastel work.

Served on the art staff of the New York Journal around the turn of the century. He was a member of the art staff of the Philadelphia Public Ledger for from 1915 to 1930, where he was a famed portraitist.

He died of a heart attack on April 20, 1930 in Ardmore, PA.
