Alkis Pierrakos

Alkis Pierrakos (1920 - 2017) was active/lived in France, Greece.  Alkis Pierrakos is known for Still life and landscape painting.

Alkis PIerrakos is a Greek painter.  He paints spontaneously since the age of 16 years and spent his childhood outside of Greece, a country in which he returned in 1938.

After years of war in Athens in 1947, he left his country for study and travel throughout the Italy, Switzerland and England finally settling in Paris, the city where he has worked since 1954 .

Since 1945-46, Pierrakos has painted more than 2000 oil on canvas or panel. Nearly half is visible in France, in private or public collections. The remaining half is found in Greece, Australia, Great Britain, Switzerland and Germany.

Having shown mainly in Black and White, Pierrakos realized until today between 3500 and 4000 designs, most of the ink.  Those in the series Buildings of the 1950s, best known as the most characteristic trait of the artist's energetic, show the "false sweetness" of Pierrakos, placing it among the great abstract-1950s.  Since then, his work has been designed to enri   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 4192 characters.]  Artist bio
