The distancing from cultural radical colleagues and the city's more or less derogatory activities contributed to this. And immediately it seemed as if the pictures were characterized by the loneliness and contact with nature that he experienced at Krøderen. P. 51. Again and again Kjær could interpret it for his contemporaries' so-called "Norwegian landscape".
