Annie Lucas (20th century) was active/lived in Alabama.  Annie Lucas is known for Naive-religious symbolic painting.

Self taught, Annie Lucas paints canvases that express and communicate her devotion to God. Some of her works such as "Seven Angels Having the Seven Last Plagues" are based on Biblical stories such as, in this case, the Book of "Revelations." On many of these canvases, she outlines her figures with thread, which gives a raised effect and also allows blind persons to experience her work.

Born February 18, 1954, Annie Lucas grew up in a rural area of Autauga County, one of fifteen children. Her father died when Annie was five and her mother reared the family without re-marrying. "Mother was always sewing, and she could be so creative about making us new dresses out of flour sacks.' Annie learned to sew also, but her creativity grew beyond the necessities of life. In the seventh grade, Annie became interested in art and she began to dream of being an artist.
