Art for Sale
Christian Meyer Ross

Christian Meyer Ross (1843 - 1904) was active/lived in Norway, Europe.  Christian Ross is known for Aristocratic female portrait and child figure genre painting.

Christian Meyer Ross is one of the most important figures in 19th-century Norwegian art. The artist initially studied classical philology in Christiania (Oslo), and later began studying art in Copenhagen. In 1870 he moved to Munich, where he enrolled at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1875 he settled in Paris, and from 1879 in Rome, where he worked until the end of his life. His work shows the clear influence of the painting of the Dutch and Flemish of the 17th century.

The artist meticulously depicted the details of his genre scenes. "Ross silk" is a concept that has entered the Norwegian art literature for good. The painter in the Roman period specialized in salon scenes depicting expensive fabrics, which puts him in a row with Wladyslaw Czachórski working in Munich.
