Da Wu Tang

Da Wu Tang (Born 1943) is active/lives in Singapore.  Da Wu Tang is known for Painting.

Tang Da Wu was born in Singapore in 1943.  He pursued his art study on sculpture in England in 1970 at Birmingham Arts and Crafts School, Martins Art School.  He received his MFA from Gold Smith College, London University in 1985. 

Upon returning to Singapore in 1978 he began working in performance art, and in 1988 he established the first Singapore's art colony called "Artists Village", dedicating himself to holding exhibitions and performances with younger artists. The Artist Village engendered some of the radical shifts in generating new ways and manners of thinking and making art in the history of contemporary art in Singapore.  Ever since then, he has been a front-runner in contemporary art, not only in Singapore but also in Southeast Asia.  He has continuously raised environmental and social issues through installations using daily necessities, and participatory performances, while seeking his self-identity as a Chinese Singaporean.
