Eduard Baumer

Eduard Baumer (1892 - 1977) was active/lived in Germany.  Eduard Baumer is known for Painting.

Eduard Bäumer completed his training as a decorative painter in Frankfurt am Main, and then studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule and the Städel-Schule.  In 1927 he moved from Frankfurt to Berlin and studied at Johannes Itten's school.  After a short stay in Paris from 1930 to 1931 he became acquainted with Cubism, which is also reflected in his prints from this time.

To protect his Jewish wife Valerie Feix from repressions, Bäumer and his family moved to Salzburg in 1933, where the couple earned their living by illustrating children's books.  When Bäumer was conscripted in 1943, the family went into hiding.

After the end of the war he took over the master class at the Akademie für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna, where, in 1950 he was made Professor.  His works are displayed in the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, the Museum für Angewandte Kunst and in the Albertina in Vienna.
