Eugene McCown (1898 - 1966) was active/lived in New York.  Eugene McCown is known for Painting.

Eugene McCown was born July 27, 1898 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. When he was 21 he moved to New York and studied with Andrew Dasburg and Eugene Speicher at the Art Students League. He also took some classes at the Modern Art School. In 1920, he spent 6 months in the West Indies as a painter and had a his first show in Puerto Rico (landscapes and portraits). The following year he worked his way to Paris on a freighter. He would stay in France until 1933.

His paintings were soon exhibited by some of the most prominent art dealers in Paris (Léonce Rosenberg, Théophile Briant, Georges Maratier) alongside his new friends known as the Neo Humanists (Bérard, Tchelitchew, and the Berman brothers). Some exhibitions in Berlin, Geneva and London have also been recorded. About 30 paintings of his were shown at the Marie Sterner Gallery, in NYC, in March 1930 and 3 of McCown’s oils were selected for the collective exhibition entitled “under 35” at the Museum of Modern Art.
