Hideo Noda

Hideo Benjamin Noda (1908 - 1939) was active/lived in California / Japan.  Hideo Noda is known for Surreal, mural.

Born in Santa Clara, CA of Japanese parents on Jan. 15, 1908. Noda graduated from Piedmont High School (Oakland) in 1929 and then enrolled at the CSFA. By 1931 he had moved to New York where he further studied with Arnold Blanch, Kuniyoshi, and Grosz. While there, he assisted Diego Rivera in the Rockefeller Center murals. He exhibited mostly in the U.S. and made many extended trips to Japan. Returning to California in 1937, he painted a mural in Piedmont High School. A modernist painter, his surreal oils compare favorably to those by Paul Klee and Joan Miro. A brain tumor ended his life on Jan. 12, 1939 in Tokyo. Member: Mural Painters Guild; Woodstock (NY) AA.
