Jacob Epstein

Jacob Epstein (1921 - 2003) was active/lived in Israel, Poland.  Jacob Epstein is known for Sculpture.

Jacob Epstein was born in Poland and studied at the State Institute of the Arts in Lviv, where he took part in a number of exhibitions, including the large exhibition of Ukrainian art 'Since the XI century until today' in Kiev.  He was a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lviv and worked additionally as a conservator and restorer of Ukrainian buildings and sculptures.

Epstein lived in Poland from 1957 to 1959, where he received a scholarship by the Polish minister for Art and Culture.  He emigrated to Israel in 1959, where he settled in Bat-Yam.  He was one of the founders of the Bat-Yam Plastic Art Institute and the director of the department of sculptures.  He was a member of the Israel Painters and Sculptors Organization. 

Jacob Epstein's works are located at the Ein Harod Museum, at the University of Tel Aviv and at the Ben Gurion University Negev. (tm)
