James Knox

James Knox (1866 - 1942) was active/lived in New York / Scotland.  James Knox is known for Impressionist landscape, seascape and military scene painting.

James Knox was a distinguished turn-of-the-century painter known for his brilliantly colored landscapes and seascapes and historical military scenes. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Knox immigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York, where he painted tranquil landscapes in a sophisticated Tonal-Impressionist style.

He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Salons of America and the Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915.

His paintings are now featured in institutions throughout the United States, including the Bennington Museum in Vermont and the Springville Museum of Art in Utah.
