Art for Sale
Jaroslav Herbst

Jaroslav Herbst (1887 - 1971) was active/lived in Czech Republic.  Jaroslav Herbst is known for Landscape and still life painting.

Jaroslav Herbst (1887-1971) initially studied engineering in Prague, but from 1912 he started devoting himself to painting as a self-taught artist.  During the First World War he served in the army.  After the war, Herbst then exclusively dedicated himself to painting.

The majority of his oeuvre was created in the 1930s.  Herbst painted primarily landscapes and still lifes as well as some allegorical scenes.  His works show reminiscences of artists such as Vincent van Gogh and the influence of the expressionists, which substantially defined Czech art of the 1920s and 1930s.
