Art for Sale
Johann Christian Vollerdt

Johann Christian Vollerdt (1708 - 1769) was active/lived in Netherlands, Germany.  Johann Vollerdt is known for Landscape, figure in landscape paintings.

Johann Christian Vollerdt (before 1708-1769) was born in Leipzig and was probably mainly active in Dresden, after his artistic training under Johann Alexander Thiele (1685-1752).  His works were usually composed as counterparts and mostly appear in rather small formats.  Dutch masters served the artist as the most important stylistic and thematic source of inspiration; works by Jan Griffier (c. 1652-1718), for instance, may have been accessible to the artist at the Gemäldegalerie in Dresden.

Vollerdt especially painted mountain and river landscapes under different time and seasonal conditions.  Besides, he often added ruins or appropriate figures to his compositions.  Works by the artist can be found, for instance, at the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen in Munich.
