Kim Deitch (Born 1944) is active/lives in New York.  Kim Deitch is known for Comic strip illustrator.

An American comic artist, Kim Deitch has been part of the Underground Comics (Comix) movement, which is self-published comic books that began appearing in the 1960s.   The movement began in San Francisco and spread to other cities including New York, Chicago and Austin, Texas.  Underground Comics focus on counterculture subjects such as drug-altered states of mind, rebellion against prevalent sexual mores and, in general, rebellion against the 'establishment'.  Participants chose the spelling of 'comix' to differentiate between their work and that of traditional comic books.

Deitch, who also uses the pseudonym of Fowlton Means, does comic artwork that is very bright in coloration, suggestive of psychedelia, and detailed in narrative.  He has featured characters such as Sunshine Girl, a flower child; The Indian Rubber Man; and a cat named Waldo, who sometimes is credited with creating the comic strips.  Common themes included drug and alcohal addicti   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1493 characters.]  Artist bio
