Leonette, Mary, (Sister Mary Leonette Bennett of the Order of St. Francis of Santa Maria) (aka Patricia Catherine Bennett) (1912-2008) (Sacramento / Santa Maria / Redwood City)

Patricia Bennett was born March 5, 1912, in Peace River, Alberta, Canada, one of 11 children of American-born parents: Michel and Elizabeth Bennett.

Her family moved to Sacramento, Ca., some time in the 1920s. She was still residing with them in Sacramento at the time of the 1930 U. S. Census. In 1932 she became a nun, Sister Mary Leonette of the Order of St. Francis of Santa Maria. Artistically, she studied and observed historic artists such as Titian, Raphael, and Whistler.

She painted a Christmas mural at Sisters Hospital in Santa Maria, 1959. Occasionally she exhibited art in group shows. There was a OMS show of her work in a Sacramento gallery in 1973. Sister Leonette died Dec. 23, 2008 and is buri   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1289 characters.]  Artist bio
