Art for Sale
Max Albert Carlier

Max Albert Carlier (1872 - 1938) was active/lived in Belgium.  Max Carlier is known for Floral and fruit still life, genre and interior scene painting.

Max Carlier was a Belgian still life painter. Born in Tourcoing,
Belgium in 1872, he was a painter of the Belgian School, which most
typically executed still lifes of florals and fruits. From time to
time, he also painted genre scenes and interiors.

He lived and worked primarily in Brussels, but traveled extensively
throughout Europe, especially Italy.  Carlier also lived and
worked in Brittany for a short period of time.

Working with a warm palette, Carlier painted still lifes in the Neo-Dutch tradition. This tradition took on force towards the end of the 18th century with
artists such as Gérard van Spaendonck, Jan van Huysum and Rachel
Roysch.

In the tradition of these still-life painters, Carlier demonstrated an
analytical approach, did opulent compositions, had an eye for refined
detail, craftsmanship and a high finish.
