Max Von Esterle

Max Von Esterle (1870 - 1947) was active/lived in Italy, Austria.  Max Von Esterle is known for Plein-air landscape and portrait painting, woodcuts and etchin.

An Austrian painter known for portraits, plein-aire paintings of landscapes, Max von Esterle also did woodcuts and etching.

He attended private art school in Vienna with Heinrich Strehblow, and from 1897-1900, he attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1900 to 1904, he studied at the Munich Art Academy.

From 1909 to 1910 he was an employee of the magazine The Hair Dryer, then until 1913 he was cartoonist at Ludwig von Ficker's magazine The Burner.

In 1914 he was a soldier in World War I, and fell into Russian captivity, from which he was released in the 1920s.

From 1924 he worked as a lecturer in drawing and painting at the Technology University of Innsbruck. In 1926 he became the first president of the Professional Association of Visual Artists of Tyrol.
