Ng Eng Teng

Ng Eng Teng (1934 - 2001) was active/lived in Singapore.  Ng Teng is known for Sculpture.

Ng Eng Teng lived from 1934 to 2001.  One of the few pioneer sculptors in Singapore, Ng Eng Teng's sculptures can be found in various parts of Singapore.  Some examples include Contentment (1974), and Mother and Child (1980).  A truly prolific artist, he had completed more than 1700 works in his lifetime, of which about 1000 sketches, paintings, maquettes, sculptures, and pottery were donated to NUS Museum.  In 1958, he commenced a period of study with Liu Kang, and subsequently met the British sculptor Jean Bullock, who encouraged his interest in sculpture.

Ng's sculptures are strong personal statements of his whimsical imagination.  For example, he embarked on a series of sensual sculptures in his late 50s.  These 90s reiterations of his fertile imagination are evocatively simple, yet playful.  In his Torso series, for example, the body itself is deconstructed and brought together in unexpected manners.  The Big Nose series, on the o   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1216 characters.]  Artist bio
