The art technique which Sokichi Suga uses is an unusual one, that evolved after 6 years of development in Japan.  The paint medium, which is applied with the fingers, is a special mixture containing seven different elements.  A brush is used only rarely.  He combines the tradition of Japanese simplicity with contemporary techniques and ideology.  His works of wrinkled rice paper and subtle transitions of color created a totally individual style.

In Japan he belongs to the Nikikai art group.  He has strived to create his own individual style and philosophy of art, however, and feels that on artist should be independent in order to be truly creative.  He feels also that today's trend in art is somewhat too serious, and he tries to expresses in his works the happiness and inspiration to be found in life rather that the tragedy or misery.
