Wassili Fomichev was born around 1924 in Elkhovka (province of Saratov / Russia) and died about 1992 in Saratov.  Fomichev was a Russian landscape painter and a member of Saratov artists association.  From 1939 to 1942 he studied at the Saratov Art School of B. and W. Milowidow Gurov.  From 1945 to 1947 Fomichev continued his studies at the Saratov Art School.

Starting in 1947, he was active in the Saratov department of the Artist Fund of the RSFSR (before 1953 Society of Saratov painter). Since 1960, the artist was a member of the Painters Union of USSR and the Exhibition Committee of the Cultural Administration of Saratov Region Executive Committee.   From 1962 to 1973 he was a Delegate of Allunions and Allrußlands painter meetings.  During the years of 1964 to 1969 Fomichev was a member of the exhibition committee of the regional exhibitions "The Great Volga".  In the 1960's to 1970, Fomichev was a member of the administratioLiterature: Matthew Bown Cullerne: A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Painters 1900-1980S, British Library, London 1998, 87th   ...  [Displaying 1143 of 1520 characters.]  Artist bio
