Alberto Gironella

Alberto Gironella (1929 - 1999) was active/lived in Mexico.  Alberto Gironella is known for Painting and sculpture.

It presents minimal conservation details. Alberto Gironella was a complete artist: an intellectual, interested in poetry, philosophy and music in addition to plastic work, he is therefore considered an important representative of 20th century art in Mexico. Mastering painting, sculpture and collage, he integrated elements of postmodern culture with what he learned in Europe on his travels during the 1960s, where he was able to see the works of artists he deeply admired, such as Diego Velázquez and Francisco de Goya. The influence of these Spanish artists is tangible in the works of Alberto Gironella, as we can see characters that remember the meninas, dreamy gentlemen and other icons. Likewise, he mixed this iconography with another great influence in his life: surrealism, thus forming a unique style that stands out in the history of art in Mexico.   ...  [Displaying 862 of 1502 characters.]  Artist bio
