Heinz Battke (born November 28, 1900 in Berlin, † January 15, 1966 in Frankfurt) was a German painter, graphic artist and draftsman. Battke's family came from East Prussia. His mother Ada Battke was a writer and journalist, his father Max Battke composer and educator. His two years older brother Fritz fell in 1917 in the First World War.
Battke attended in the years 1918-1921, the private art school "A. Propp "in Berlin. From 1922 to 1925 He was a student with Karl Hofer at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin.
From 1925 to 1932 he took part in the annual exhibitions of the Prussian Academy of Arts. Heinz Battke had his first solo exhibition in 1927 in the gallery Neumann-Nierendorf in Berlin. In the late 1920s, Battke undertook extensive study trips to France and Italy, with longer working visits to Paris (1927-1929) and 1929-1930 in Florence.
