Barbara Vaupel

Barbara Vaupel (1939 - 2006) was active/lived in Oklahoma, California.  Barbara Vaupel is known for Horse, landscape, cowboy genre.

Self-taught painter and illustrator of horses, cowboys, rodeos and other Western subjects, Barbara Vaupel was born August 17, 1939, in San Diego, California, growing up there and nearby La Mesa, where she lived until 1966. After experience as an in-house advertising artist for a furniture store in 1961-1962, and copy editor in classified advertising at the San Diego Union Tribune, in 1965-1968, she decided to be an artist. She moved to Owasso, Oklahoma, in 1968, seeking to be a horse painter, moving again in 1970 to Henryetta, Oklahoma, where she lives today.

Her paintings have been used on magazine covers and as illustrations. Some specific works include Saddling Up Albuquerque and Jake; The Prairie Courtship; Waiting for the Storm; Mountain Majesty; Panhandle Arroyo; Spring Conies to the Buffalo; and Near Gallup, New Mexico.
