Benjamin Jorj Harris

Benjamin Jorj Harris (1904 - 1957) was active/lived in New York.  Benjamin Harris is known for Airbrush and watercolor abstract painting.

Benjamin Jorj Harris was a noted artist who lived from 1904 to1957. He was related to Joel Harris, author the 'Uncle Remus stories'. Benjamin specialized in airbrushed watercolors and along with his wife Georgette, are said to have perfected the technique.

Harris was one of many artists who supplied original watercolors, to Newman Decor, a high-end interior design firm that decorated apartments during the late 1940s housing boom. This original art work would complement the fabric selected as coverings or, as in this case, the overall mood of the decorations.

Over the years, Harris' work has become highly sought-after and collectable as he and his wife, Georgette were thought to have "perfected the art of airbrushing."
