Brenda Kingery

Brenda Kingery (Born 1939) is active/lives in Texas, Oklahoma / Honduras.  Brenda Kingery is known for Abstraction-Indian object motif.

A voting member of the Chickasaw Indian tribe of Oklahoma, Brenda Kingery is a painter who describes her work as "narrative symbolism" because it is a combination of elements from her Native American culture and her world-wide travels including Honduras, Okinawa and regions of the South China Sea.

Kingery has lived much of her early life in Oklahoma City but later settled in San Antonio, Texas.  She took her education at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in fine arts and history and spent six years studying and teaching in Okinawa for the University of Maryland, Far East Division.  She travels to Honduras where she teaches women cottage industries such as ceramics and tapestries.

In 1993, she was voted Artist of the Year in San Antonio.
