Elmer Joseph Read (Born 1862) was active/lived in New York, New Jersey.  Elmer Read is known for Amateur sketches, marine.

Elmer Joseph Read was born in Howard, Stueben County, New York in 1862. He was a painter by profession. He lived in Palmyra, New York but traveled to the Bahamas and Cuba and other surrounding islands, during the turn of the century where he painted the local scenes of the times.

He had studied at Syracuse University and with Emmanuel Fremiet in Paris.

He exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1892 and 1894, and at the Art Institute in Chicago in 1913.
