Ferdinand Olivier

Ferdinand Olivier (1785 - 1841) was active/lived in Germany.  Ferdinand Olivier is known for Painting.

Ferdinand Olivier was born in 1785 in Dessau. From 1801/02 he took lessons with the landscape painter Carl Wilhelm Kolbe d. J. and the engraver Johann Christian Haldenwang in Dessau. After his studies, Oliver stayed from 1804-1806 in Dresden and then from 1807-1809 stayed in Paris. He executed commissioned work for Duke Leopold III. Then from 1811-1830 he stayed in Vienna. He was an acquaintance of Joseph Anton Koch and specialized in landscape painting. In 1817 he received admission to the Lukasbund and was appointed Professor of Art History at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
