Friedrich Wilhelm Schwinge

Friedrich Wilhelm Schwinge (1852 - 1913) was active/lived in Germany.  Friedrich Schwinge is known for Landscape and marine painting.

Friedrich Wilhelm Schwinge was born on March 30, 1852 in Hamburg and died on October 22, 1913.  Schwinge was a German landscape and marine painter.  

From 1878-84 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy first with Hugo Crola and Heinrich Lauenstein and later with Peter Janssen and Eugen Dücker. After training (1885), he settled in Hamburg, where he became a member of the Hamburg Artist Association in 1832. In 1886 the Hamburg Kunstverein acquired from him the watercolor From the Elbe" which was followed by further acquisitions.

Study trips included Holland, Norway, Sweden and Scotland. His greatest successes he drew from the Lower Saxony flat landscape, which he exhibited on the "Hamburg America Line".

In addition to the landscape painting, he also  did animal and figure paintings of his favorite topics which was landscape scenes especially from Hamburg, the Elbe, forest villages and the Lueneburg Heath.
