Gabriel Amat cultivated a virtuoso style and focused on landscape themes, mainly marine and harbor views with boats, often of the port of Barcelona. 

Brother of the painter José Amat, he was granted a safe-conduct in 1939, which allowed him to travel outside Spain to further his studies. 

Gabriel Amat is currently represented in the Maritime Museum of Barcelona and in the Cau Ferrat in Sitges.
