Georges Delfosse (1869 – 1939)

A prominent Canadian painter, draftsman, printmaker, educator and illustrator, Georges Delfosse (aka: Marie Joseph Georges Delfosse) was born in Saint Henri de Mascouche, Quebec (now a Montreal suburb) and lived in the city of Montreal from 1882 until his death. His works were included in numerous exhibitions with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts* and with the Art Association of Montreal. Over 600 of his paintings and drawings are in the collections of Canadian museums including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Quebec Museum of Fine Arts, and the National Gallery of Canada.

His mediums included oils, watercolors, fresco*, gouache*, pastels, charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, engravings, and Montreal street design (projects in 1893, 1894 and 1899).
