Gwen Marcus (20/21st century) is active/lives in New York.  Gwen Marcus is known for Realistic figural and portrait life size sculpture.

Noted sculptor, Gwen Marcus, has exhibited in numerous shows throughout the United States and is a part of many important collections throughout the world, including Taiwan, England and Switzerland.  A child prodigy, Marcus began exhibiting her work in 1966 at the age of nine.

Critics have praised Marcus for her sensitivity and comprehension of the human form. Each figure evokes a distinct vision, a mysterious alchemy of sensuality and spirituality.

Every Marcus image is powerfully and painstakingly executed, and each figure demonstrates her demand for the highest degree of excellence and quality in her work.

Marcus talks about the strength and energy of her sculpture. "The eye never stays stagnant. In viewing my work, the observer is drawn in by the rhythm of the life force of the piece. Most of my figures are self-contained and introspective. Pieces are not formed on the surface, but rather they are pulled from their inner core."

The twice recipient of the Gold Medal of Honor (American Artist Professional League Inc.), Gold Medal of Honor (Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club), Certificate of Merit (National Academy of Design); and the Gloria Medal (National Sculpture Society). Memberships include the American Medallic Sculpture Association, Fellow of The National Sculpture Society, Allied Artists of America, and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.

Marcus has received many honors and commissions, among them the Gold Medal of Honor from Allied Artists of America Inc; the George Gach Memorial Award and two-time recipient of the Gold Medal of Honor from the American Artist Professional League, Inc.; Gold Medal of Honor from the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club; Certificate of Merit from National Academy of Design; and the Gloria Medal from the National Sculpture Society.

Known as a child prodigy, Gwen Marcus began creating her first sculptures at the age of nine.  Praised for her accuracy and sensitivity toward the human form, Marcus intends for her pieces, whether of a nude leaning over the water's edge or a woman carrying eggs, to exude strength, energy, spirituality and sensuality. 

Marcus is the receipient of many awards and honors including Gold Medals of Honor from the Allied Artsists of America, The American Artists Professional League, Audubon Artists, the Hudson Valley Art Association, and a Certificate of Merit from the National Academy of Design.

Marcus is also a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society and the American Artists Professional League.  She holds memberships with the American Medallic Sculpture Association, Allied Artsits of America, the Pen & Brush Club, and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.
