Howard Edwards

Howard Arden Edwards (1884 - 1953) was active/lived in California, Indiana.  Howard Edwards is known for Landscape, portrait, Indian life.

Painter. Born in Frankfort, IN on Sept. 5, 1884. Early in life Edwards was a daredevil and clown in a circus. He moved to Los Angeles about 1910 and for 20 years was a teacher of stagecraft at Lincoln High School. During this time he authored a play entitled 'Flamingo Arrow." An authority on American Indians, in 1928 he founded the Yato Kya Indian Museum nearby in Antelope Valley. Edwards died in Lancaster, CA on July 19, 1953. A self-taught artist, he experimented with Cubism in the 1920s, but was primarily an Impressionist who used feathery brushstrokes to create traditional landscapes.
