Ida Gisiko-Sparck

Ida Gisiko-Sparck (1859 - 1940) was active/lived in Sweden.  Ida Gisiko Sparck is known for Painting.

Swedish artist Ida Gisiko-Sparck was born in 1859. Ida Gisiko, married Spärck, and belonged to the generation of women, together with Helene Schjerfbeck, Maria Wik, Julia Beck and Eva Bonnier, who went to Paris in the 1880s. They were strong women who, together with their male colleagues, stood on the barriers against the fake ideals of the arts academies. In Paris, you buy the new winds that blew and pave the way for the innovative open air painting. Once again in Sweden, she joined Önningebykolonin, an artists' colony who worked in Önningeby in Jomala, Åland between 1886 and 1914. The colony can be described as a Swedish-Finnish equivalent to the more famous artist colony in Skagen, Denmark. The art she created was outdoor painting with inspiration from Paris and Skagen.
