Josef Hegenbarth

Josef Hegenbarth (1884 - 1962) was active/lived in United States, Germany.  Josef Hegenbarth is known for Painting.

Josef Hegenbarth was born in 1884. From 1908-1915 Hegenbarth studied at the Academy of Arts Dresden with Carl Bantzer, Oskar Zwintscher and Gotthardt Kuehl. In 1914 he had his first exhibition at Emil Richter in Dresden. Since 1915 Hegenbarth was a member of the Dresden Artists association. In 1921 he bought a house in Loschwitz (there today that Josef Hegenbarth archive). From 1924-36 Josef was a freelancer for the magazine "youth," and worked on a collaboration in 1925-44 Simplicissimus". In 1926 Josef was a member of the Vienna Secession, from 1929 a member of the Prague Secession, after the II. Hegenbarth was an employee of the magazines Ulenspiegel "and the Simpl", and in 1947 was a Professor at the HBK Dresden. Josef Hegenbarth passed away in 1962 in Dresden, Germany.
