Katherine Cohen

Katherine Myrhilla Cohen (1859 - 1914) was active/lived in Pennsylvania, New York.  Katherine Cohen is known for Portrait statue and relief sculpture, landscape and miniature painting.

Artist, sculptor. 
Born Philadelphia, March 18, 1859; daughter of Samuel and Matilda (Samuel) Cohen. 

Educated in private schools, including Ogontz (PA) School for Young Ladies, and languages under private instructors; Art at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; sculpture at Art Students League in New York City under Augustus St. Gaudens, followed by several years in ateliers in Paris and Florence. 

Began professional work in sculpture in 1880, chiefly portrait statues, relief work, as well as much decorative work, and miniatures in ivory; also painter of landscapes and the figure.  Member New Century Club (Philadelphia), American Art Association of Paris (honorary).
