Laszlo Szabo

Laszlo Szabo (1917 - 1984) was active/lived in Hungary.  Laszlo Szabo is known for Painting.

After fleeing Hungary, Szabó studied at the art school in Geneva under M. Weber and H. Koenig. After receiving a scholarship, the artist lived in Paris from 1947, where his sculpturally designed studio, the so-called Académie du Feu, developed into a meeting place and workplace for up to 15 artists. From 1949, Szabó exhibited regularly at the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture, and from 1951 also at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles. Szabó had his first solo exhibition in 1953 at the Galerie Breteau, Paris. His work includes fertility idols, trees of life and anthropomorphic figures as well as birds and fish. Szabó saw sculpture as a premonition of a new kind of organic architecture. Sprawling natural forms and stylized elements based on mythological motifs combine to create a fantastic overall composition, the main characteristic of which is the round, gently flowing lines.
