Louis Sosson

Louis Sosson (1905-1930) was active/lived in France.  Louis Sosson is known for Modernist female figure sculpture.

Louis Sosson was recorded as living at 50, rue Turenne, Paris from 1914-18.  His sons carried on the business until 1960.?  (Literature: Tardy, Les Ivoires, Paris, 1977, page 273).

His date of birth and date of death are unknown, but based on the years that he apparently flourished, he likely would have been born circa 1870-1880 and likely died somewhere between 1930 and 1950.

He was a very fine sculptor; there is no doubt about that, and most of his work emanates from the Art Deco era, but some of his statues have an Art Nouveau appearance as well. His auction records primarily indicate sales of chryselephantine statues of young, beautiful women in various nude or partially clothed poses. He did, however, also produce bronze statues with no ivory added.
