Artist Biography & Facts
Louis Thevenet

Louis Thevenet (1874 - 1930) was active/lived in Belgium.  Louis Thevenet is known for Post-Impressionism, landscape painting.

Louis Thévenet was a self-taught painter who followed in the footsteps of his brother. He worked for a long time in Nieuport with Aug. Oleffe and is now represented in the Antwerp and Ixelles (Brussels) museums.

The present panel depicts a landscape within the framework of Post-Impressionism, marked by the artist's search for a balance between naturalism, pictorial order, and personal expression.

The space appears perfectly constructed in depth thanks to the color, the energetic and controlled brushstrokes, very dense in certain areas and lighter in others, and especially through the play of light and reflections.
