Manuel Hernández Mompó

Manuel Hernández Mompó (1927 - 1992) was active/lived in Spain.  Manuel Mompo is known for Abstract painting.

Hernández Mompó was a Spanish artist born to a painting teacher. He studied at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades of Valencia and obtained scholarships to paint in Granada and Paris. He was influenced by the informalist painters' circles in Paris and Rome, and later settled in Amsterdam before returning to Spain. 

He exhibited in major cities around the world and won several awards, including the Unesco Prize at the XXXIV Venice Biennale in 1968 and the National Prize for Fine Arts in 1984. Hernández Mompó's style was influenced by abstract expressionism and informalism, but his works never lost reality as a reference. He captured a figurative and poetic imagery, harmoniously mixed with abstract elements and rich superposition effects.
