Onorato Carlandi

Onorato Carlandi (1848 - 1939) was active/lived in Italy, England.  Onorato Carlandi is known for Landscape with water, trees, figure and marine scene painting.

Onorato Carlandi (Rome, May 15, 1848 - Rome, April 11, 1939) was an Italian painter. He was the son of Francesco and Camilla Castellani and therefore grandson of Fortunato Pio Castellani. The family had destined him for the career of lawyer, but instead he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.

At 18 he volunteered among Garibaldi's Hunters of the Alps. Later he moved to Naples to improve his artistic training. In 1871 he returned to Rome. Here he exhibited some paintings inspired by the Risorgimento: The Cairoli boat, Mentana's prisoners.

In 1875, together with Ettore Roesler Franz, Pio Joris and Cesare Biseo, he founded the "Society of Roman Watercolorists".

In 1880 he went to England, where he was able to study English landscape architects. He lived in London until 1891, when he returned to Rome and participated in the association "In arte libertas".
