BIOGRAPHY

Ron Jamieson (1917 – 2010)

A painter and illustrator, Ronald Archibald Jamieson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and died in Montreal, Quebec (January 17, 2010) where he appears to have lived since the 1930s. He graduated from Sir George Williams University (now Concordia University), Montreal in 1938. He worked as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines and began easel painting in 1969. His painting mediums were oils and watercolors. His subjects were landscapes, figures, street scenes, marine scenes and genre. His style could be described as Impressionism* and Plein Air Painting*. The askART auction results have some good illustrations of his work. (1)

Jamieson’s works were exhibited at Art Expo Montreal at the Palais des Congres convention center in 1984 and 1985.
